Summer Cocktail Dress and tips

A hot summer day, sweltering heat and a party to attend; a situation that needs a perfect dress to help you stay cool. Here are some summer cocktail dresses for you to choose from, for such an occasion.
Every young girl, at some point of time, dresses up in her mother’s high heels, wears her mother’s makeup and trots around the house, ready in her own eyes, to accept any party invite that comes her way. There starts every woman’s intrinsic love for clothes and more importantly, fashion. And whether our intellectual part accepts our ‘fashion consciousness’ or not, it does not take away from the fact that it is that need to look good that drives us to look out for new trends ever season. What we wear in the winter, spring and summer is determined by, definitely the nip in the air and the heat wave but more so by what is in and what is out. So, as the temperature rises and we gulp down glasses of lemonade, what is the prediction for summer cocktail dresses? Here are our top picks as we mark out the best cocktail dresses  for summer.
Tips for Cocktail Dresses for Summer
If you are looking out for a summer cocktail dress, then the first thing that you need to keep in mind is to let the dress be simple and well cut. The embellishments on the dress and the accessories you wear need to be determined depending on the time of the day that the party is being held. Given below are some tips that will help you pick out summer cocktail dresses.
    * If it is a morning affair, and you are attending a summer wedding, then try and choose cocktail attire for women that will let you be comfortable and let your skin breathe. Avoid complicated straps, sequins, shiny adornments, fabrics like satin, etc. Stick to dresses that are made of a fabric that is summer friendly and more importantly, wrinkle free.
    * For evening cocktails, bring out fabrics such as satin, silk, rayon and fine-gauge knits that work very well. A little bit of bling works for evening wear but if this is the case with your dress, then ensure that you do not over-accessorize. Let the prints of the dress be reminiscent of the season that it is being worn in.
    * Summer is the season of colors. Ditch the blacks and whites and make new additions to your color palette. Wear a bright summer color like yellow or pink; if colors make you slightly nervous, you can try and experiment with different prints on the dress.
    * Focus on your accessories. While matching accessories in shades of the same color as your dress work well, try and experiment with the adornments that you wear and make a statement, for example, if you are wearing a green dress, instead of wearing heels in the same color or plain old black, spice it up with wedges in a canary yellow. But make sure that you are comfortable in whatever you wear.
While choosing cocktail party attire is not a Herculean task, choosing a style that flatters you may test your patience. The next section of this article lists out the different styles of summer cocktails dresses that are in vogue this season.
Summer Cocktail Dresses
One Shoulder Dresses
A one shoulder dress is the perfect way to flaunt well toned arms and to die for collar bones. Try a summer cocktail dress that has either a gathered skirt which flatters someone who does not have a tones belly. If you have a well toned figure, then you could take a leaf out of the books of Hollywood fashionistas and opt for a Goddess dress with a flowing, pleated skirt.
Stretch Side Wrap Dress
The wrap dress has the distinction of being one of the most timeless fashion statements in any woman's wardrobe. Introduced in the 1970's, it was embraced by most celebrities and heralded as the successor to the little black dress. If you are looking for something that will give you the coveted hourglass figure, then a wrap dress in a stretch material in colors like pearl and pastel shades may be the perfect solution.
Cocktail Suit
If you are one of those women, who needs to rush to a cocktail party right from work, then this dress is the answer to your problems. A cocktail suit is more dress than your average business attire and is available in both summer and winter colors. Team it up with a dressy, ruffle top and remove the jacket to make the suit look a little less formal.
Strapped Dress
It is after all summer, and the heat is just a nod to a dress with just-there sleeves. If you can carry off strapped dresses, then this maybe one of the perfect summer cocktail dresses for you. Let the upper body of the dress hug your curves and let the skirt of the dress either be cut in an A-line or a full bodied, flowing skirt. We suggest that you go easy on the embellishments but if you want to add glitter and glimmer to the dress, then the accessories need to be subtle.
Sheath Dress
This is one of those summer cocktail dresses which is strictly for those who have a perfect 10 figure, thanks to its design which demands a tight fit to the body. But this is a dress which is perfect for summers because of the light fabrics that it is generally made off. You can opt for a strapped or a strapless sheath dress.
These were just a few options for summer cocktail dresses. If you are worried about the money that you may need to shell out on these dresses, do not get perturbed. There are several cheap summer cocktail dresses available at shops that have vintage clothes or fashion knockoffs. All you need to do is decide on the style that suits you and flaunt it at the next cocktail party you attend.

highlights fashion prom dress in paris

It’s been a busy month for fashionista as the various fashion weeks have taken them from New York to London and to Milan. However as Milan Fashion Week came to an end the fashion crowd were packing their bags and heading off in the direction of France for Paris Fashion Week.
Staring yesterday, the 9-day event will be host to 91  catwalk shows to keep the fashion crowd alert. Day one, which was yesterday, saw a few collections from up-and-coming designers like Aganovich, from London, and Anthony Vaccarello who was targeted by Vogue’s influential September issue.
And we have to say we were impressed with the latters designs.

Vaccarello sent his models down the catwalk in classic Parisian chic. Asymmetric structured dresses in black and black frock flounced down the catwalk alongside  sheer styles that showed off more than a little bit of cleavage.
There were also backless bodices as well as rouched mini skirts and open blazers with nothing underneath. We need to be hitting that gym if we want to be wearing these designs next season.

Tail hems: dresses longer at the back on the runway

Shirttail hem, tapered hem, cutaway hem... whatever you wish to label it, the basic fact remains: skirts and dresses cut longer at the back are continuing to make their way into our trend bibles, and thus features as a major 2011 fashion trend. These hems fill the void between mini and midi; or between midi and maxi. They cover, yet they expose. And they're a simple way to freshen up your spring 2011 wardrobe with a new type of cut.
Read on to find out more about the style, what to look for, and how to wear it.

The tail hem: what is it?
A shirttail hem is traditionally cut shorter on the sides, with a longer 'tail' at the back. In 2011 the trend is more than just a shirttail hem, however: it's any manner of dresses, skirts or tops that have a hem that's shorter in front, longer in back.

Why a tail hem?
The appeal of a dipping hem is that it's playful. One side coveys the elegance of length, while the other hints at something more revealing. It can also have the appeal of looking completely effortless; especially if cut to resemble an untucked shirt, or an oversized tee.

Types of hem
There are numerous ways of creating a unique hemline with a 'tail' effect. Here are a few examples:
    * A simple hem cut at an angle.
    * A more traditional petal hem (where the fabric overlaps in front like petals of a flower)
    * A hem that's cut from very short to very long - i.e mini to maxi.
    * A hem that falls into large drapes or pleats at the back.
Any of these work in 2011 - remember that it's all about adding a little point of difference.

the little black dress

The fact that there in the front row sat Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, daughter of former Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld, left me in no doubt  New York fashion week showing would have visual impact. Those in the front row, when carefully invited, often give a hint of precisely what's in store, and Julia sat there in a hot little shoulderless number that mixed mesh with leather.
take on the coming fall 2011 season is a collection of dresses, leathers, lace and sheers, and flares. All of them, even those that failed to work in the face of better pieces from the same collection, are heavily sexed up. Simplistic, perhaps even crass, to say but that's precisely what this collection is about.
Some pieces have micro short hems. Others are offered with trains that lashed behind the model as she pounded the catwalk. And between both cuts are some that are more demure in having floor length hems. But no matter the length of cut, it was clear that this is a collection all about defining precisely what a dress can be. In doing so it made it clear that this was a collection for women who simply have that it quality in abundance. The Restoin-Roitfelds of the world. The fashionisers with a rock-chic edge.

the runway Melbourne dress

It's a creative challenge imagine having to put  brain to: reinventing the black dress in a way that's both unique, beautiful, and sustainable. That's the challenge 10 Australian labels had on their plate when they were accepted into the third annual Spirit of the Black Dress project, this year a part of the official LMFF (L'Oreal Melbourne fashion festival) programme.
At last week's gala launch at The Trust, Melbourne, we got to see the ten black dress designs on the runway. And while each was in itself stunning, the most captivating thing was how different each piece was and how uniquely each designer interpreted the challenge.
From the leather dress with sheer skirting, made from recycled handbags, created by Clea Garrick and Nathan Price (Limedrop) to the modern-tribal interpretation by Alyana Eau and Prischilla Lim; from Leanne Dempsey's buttoned-up tailoring to Dan Jones' rock-star beaded mini - each is worth a close up look and an understanding of the inspirations, story and sustainable processes behind the garment.
To do that, you should head down to The Trust at 405 Flinders Lane Melbourne and see the exhibition, open 12pm - 6pm daily from now until the 21st of March.

Special Ocassion Dress

Sometimes, when you’re looking to set yourself apart from the crowd, you need a unique dress that’s a little more special than you’re ordinary Evening Dress or Cocktail dress, and that’s why we put together a special collection here at Prom Party Dress.com we call our Special Occasion Dresses ~ Whether it’s a work function, or a big party, or any other important event that you want to make a lasting impression at, take a quick look through this section to see if you can’t find a unique design that fits your personality well.
When it comes to Special Occasion Dresses, you want to make sure that you take some time to think about what kind of attire would be appropriate to wear, because you don’t want to overdress yourself. If it’s a work function, or a holiday party, chances are you can wear a dress that’s a little more on the casual side, and in general, it is safer to go more casual than to go more formal. Going sexy or going traditional is another choice you will have to make for yourself, and it depends on what kind of event you will be attending.
When it comes to picking out a dress that flatters your figure, there are a few smart tips you can employ to help you look your best and bring out your best assets, while downplaying those you don’t want to have highlighted. For example, if you are a curvy woman with a large bust, a thin waist, and thick hips, you may want to flaunt what your moma gave you by weary a tight, form-fitting dress that brings out those curves. If you have a pear shaped body you may want to go with a dress that features an empire waist that really brings out your bust, and has a long flowing skirt that will make you look elegant, and make your hips look thinner.
When it comes to lengths of dresses, the choice is yours, because these days short dresses have become the new long, and more and more stars and celebrities are wearing short dresses to very formal events. The times are changing, and so are the norms concerning what is appropriate to wear at formal events. There has never been a better time to break the rules, and wear something a little shorter than average to a formal event. Of course, we only recommend doing this if you are the type who can really enjoy making a bold statement. Otherwise, it’s always safe to wear a nice long gown to formal event, and you can still spice things up quite a bit by choosing a Special Occasion Dress that features a long and sexy slit that makes its way up the thigh. Nothing screams sexy elegance quite like a long dress with a slit!
If you’re in the mood to make a splash, why not do it with a big splash of color? After all, prints seem to be almost more popular than solid colors these days, and with so many unique print dresses to choose from, it’s not too hard to find one that you find fun, yet fitting for any event. If femininity is what you’re after, you might try a pure white dress with a large, lone orchid print on the skirt. If a hippie chic look is what you’re after, don’t hesitate to check out some of the more bold combinations of greens, oranges, yellows, and blues that some of our dresses have to offer.
When it comes right down to it, the perfect dress is a dress that inspires confidence. Whether it’s a Pink Dress, a Purple Dress, a Little Black Dress, or a Print Dress, the most important thing is that you like, or love it! No it doesn’t have to be made by Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Adrianna Papell, Phillip Lim, Aidan Mattox, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Versace, or Ralph Lauren. All that really matters is that it looks great on you, and you love it!
