An amazing burst of bright colors, a wide palette of delicious tangerine, explosion of flowers, an optimistic feel of the '70s, innocent white lace and pure second-skin shades, timeless denim, versatile crisp white shirts, and flowing maxi dresses are among the hottest trends for the warm season that is just around the corner.
Lovely flowers already became a timeless print and they add a vibrant and youthful flair. Spring/summer 2011 cannot make exception and designers brought a wide range of floral prints to add a playful feel to our wardrobe. Liberty, Asian-inspired, or tropical, get ready to see a real explosion of floral prints for the upcoming season. Maxi dresses, shorts, blouses, footwear, and different accessories are all beautifully embellished by chic, romantic floral prints. Besides flowers, bold graphic stripes or animal prints are the opposite of all adorable details and great if you want a wilder approach.
Among the riot of different fashion trends, we can also find a special '70-inspired vibe. We have seen the trend at Marc Jacobs through amazing '70s dresses, Just Cavalli through captivating patchworks, Anna Sui with round-shaped sunglasses, knitted shorts and denim vests, and Derek Lam through extremely stylish flared jeans worn with crisp white shirts. Well, since we are speaking of jeans, you should know that denim is back again for spring/summer 2011. Moreover, it seems that the head-to-toe denim look is so hot for the upcoming season.

Since ever, the maxi has been a must for black tie events. A lot of beachwear kaftans and coverups are maxis as well. But how can it translate into our everyday life? I don't see it blend in well into an office look - unless you're a fashion magazine editor, perhaps you can try a tailored maxi skirt. Still, for a day out, a weekend, or a dinner party - the maxi dress is your friend.

TORONTO–Not all designers walk the same runway. In true fashion week style, many presented their collections far away from the glossy white stage. Here are three must-know labels that left us wanting more.
Known as “The Jersey Boys of Toronto,” Greta Constantine designers Stephen Wong and Kirk Pickersgill have won the hearts of many who don their draped wonders from the runway to red carpet. This season, the pair ventured out on a global escapade and debuted a collection interwoven with a multitude of inspirations that seemingly reflected the multicultural tapestry of Canada. From Japanese cuts to Tibetan shapes, the label satisfied the taste of those with a nomadic sense of style.
One of the most highly anticipated shows of the season was the return of Arthur Mendonça, who escaped the public eye following bankruptcy in 2008. The once golden boy of the Canadian fashion scene made a triumphant return to the runway with a collection that oozed sex appeal from first to last look. Set to the track “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie, Mendonça enriched his line-up with luxe jewel tones that nodded to the silhouettes of Yves Saint Laurent but with contemporary fluidity. The designer, who once showed during New York Fashion Week, will undoubtedly reign again come fall.

Dream Prom Dresses
When I went to the prom over a decade ago, Marc by Marc Jacobs didn’t exist. Our options were thus: Caché, Jessica McClintock, BCBG and if your mom could afford it, Betsey Johnson. Of course many of us opted for vintage. I, for one, wore a gunmetal gown with a little black cardigan on top, inspired by a Calvin Klein ensemble Gwyneth Paltrow chose for a red carpet appearance in the late 1990s.
But then there’s Steff, who wore Marc Jacobs collection to her prom. (Yeah, that’s right. She wore the dress again last year to the Whitney Art Party. It’s amazing.) Leah spent a pretty penny, but wasn’t as happy with the results. “I bought (what I then considered) a very expensive beaded BCBG gown. I also thought it was the prettiest dress ever,” she says. “Then coming back from a boozy pre-graduation beach week in Delaware (which is some DC schools’ ritual) my friends and I stopped at a Loehmann’s and I bought a slutty, pink postage stamp of a dress for $50 and wore that instead.” Don’t worry though, she wore the pretty BCBG dress to a wedding, and had a fever on prom and went home early so the slutty tube dress didn’t get much play.
But even if we loved our dresses, there are so many amazing options out there now–from Target to Forever 21 to H&M–that we’re pretty sure we could have found something even better if we were graduating in 2011.

2011 might seem like a long way off, but bridal gown designers are already hard at work creating the beautiful styles which brides next year will all be coveting. Set to debut in a few months, the first crop of 2011 gowns are embellished with many dimensional details, lots of handstitched crystals, and large floral appliques. Take a sneak peek into the romantic style of the latest wedding gown trends.
For the last few seasons, ruffles have been one of the biggest ways that designers have chosen to add volume and visual interest to their gowns. The bridal gowns which are set to debut soon move away from the ruffle trend, but not from the idea of using embellishments to add volume and femininity. Instead of ruffles, look for gowns with hundreds of tiny three dimensional flowers stitched all over them. Soft petals are another favorite decoration for the romantic gowns for 2011. Oversized clusters of flower "corsages" are another big trend, and they are primarily being used as accents on waistlines or shoulders.
One thing you will not be seeing is a lot of plain dresses or those with simple lines. Asymmetry is still in, both in the form of the one shoulder gown and wedding dresses with asymmetrical draping on the bodice. Very low waistlines are in abundance, and most bodices have ruched, gathered, or draped bodices which hug the figure (the wrapped fabric does a nice job of smoothing over any figure flaws in these tight bodices). Certainly strapless bridal gowns are still a staple, and the one shoulder style is still in style. A new addition to the necklines for 2011 wedding gowns is the tip of the shoulder design which is very slim at the top and just barely grazes the edge of the bride's shoulder. It is a very flattering neckline for many women, and a nice alternative to the more typical strapless wedding dress.

You will be seeing Swarovski crystals stitched into the center of tiny floral appliques, as well as larger crystals used to embellish the entire gown, from neck to hem. But now Wolford has created the Fatal dress - a seamless tube of stretchy fabric also designed to be worn in multiple ways - and at £89, it's much more of a bargain.
Made of 93 per cent nylon and 7 per cent elastane, the Fatal comes in extra small, small and medium sizes (and 12 different colours), and, surprisingly for such a delicate fabric, is machine washable.
It can be worn as a long dress, short dress, pencil or mini skirt, top or wide belt. It sounds like the ultimate investment - several outfits for the price of one - and a dream solution for a holiday suitcase.
I feel suitably excited - until the Fatal arrives. It's a minuscule square of wafer-thin material which unfurls to reveal what looks like an overgrown elastic boob tube.
It barely looks big enough to wear as a scarf, let alone cover my size ten frame. Quite frankly, it doesn't look like it's going to do my summer-pudding tummy any favours.
